Ben aka Howard
living the good life.

Howard  Howard  Howard

Ben's adopters recently wrote to us to let us know how he had settled in.

Just to let you know that Howard (now renamed Ben) who we adopted in April is getting on.  He has settled in really well, we feel as if we've never been without him.  He loves going for walks and occasionally has a paddle or swim in the local stream.  Recall was a problem at first but as the weeks go by he's getting better and better.  I think changing his name has helped.  Ben loves going out in the car, having lots of cuddles and playing with the children.  We are looking forward to him coming on holiday with us in the Summer to Wales.

He's perfect and we'd just like to thank you for giving us the opportunity of owning such a great friend and making his adoption process a pleasuarable experience.

Barney - home at last!
Barney  barney and family  barney and dad  barney and toys

Barney spent quite a long time in our care but has at last found the happy family home he so needed, where his adopters are prepared to work with him to overcome his traffic obsession (often found in Border Collies).

Hi all,
Just a line to keep you updated on Barney's progress.  He has settled with us really well and think he is now aware this is his home. He has some lovely country walks where he runs quite happily off the lead and now looks at us for his ball which he enjoys. He has once bolted from me when I walked him at the local park but I think the cause of this was a passing emergency ambulance, fortunatley we caught him safely.  He walks much better on the lead when having some road socialising, and although is still watching traffic he continues walking which he gets praised for. We are also in touch with an Accredited Dog Trainer called Malcolm Nutbrown who I think we will be having a session with for him to see Barney and help us overcome this small problem. Anyway apart from that he's FAB!!   He has a great game of footy with the kids and a some rough and tumble with my mum's border collie too. He is always happy for his bed and in fact he has slept well since the day he came. Anyway here are some pictures, we will send more when the sun shines!

Fred (in the middle) letting us know how happy he with his new life.
Fred in the middle

Fred asked his adopters to send us this message:

I came to to live with my new owners in May 2007. I have settled in very well. I live wih Sasha, another German Shepherd, and Meeka, a Rotty, and Mable an old cat that was rescued from the RSPCA.  We all get along great and go for regular walks and play in the fields. I am going to get another play mate soon a 2 year old Rotty.  I have met him a few times and we get on great.  I  would like to say thank you to the RSPCA for looking after me and helping me find a new home.  Love Fred xx

Millie settled into her new home.
Millie

Millie's owners sent us this photograph to let us know how well she is doing in her new home.  All the family love Mille.

Monty, who was called Garfield during his stay with the branch, demonstrating the good life.

Monty

Monty's new family wrote to us recently:

Thankyou both at Tameside - Doris and Sheila - for the terrific work that you all do. We've got Monty and we are all having a terrific life together. He is completely at home now and he is perfectly relaxed and chilled out !!

Best Wishes,  Mike and Alison

Lucy who is an older cat (although she doesn't look it!) now enjoying life in her new home
Lucy          Lucy in garden

Lucy's new family wrote to let us know how she was getting on.

Just a short note to let you know how Lucy is doing.  We adopted Lucy back in February - and although we have only had her a short time she has really settled into our home and we can't imagine being without her now.  I knew straight away that I wanted Lucy and Doris was helpful with advice as we had never owned a cat before.  I bought Lucy a very expensive whicker basket to sleep in - but in the middle of the night we can usually feel a lump at the bottom of the bed and we know Lucy is there - she seems to like the warmth of us near her.

Lucy especially likes the garden - chasing birds and squirrels and defending her territory against other cats - most of whom are twice as big as her!

Baxter enjoying life as a boat dog on the canals of England.
baxter and boat    baxter  Baxter and friends

Baxter's new family told us how well he was settling into his narrow boat life.  He has already made two friends and has proved to be so bright that he has learnt lots of new things.  We know that if he could talk he would thank you for giving him a new way of living.  We thank you for him.

Sam demonstrating that all dogs with a troubled past need is love, time and patience from their caring new family.

sam and his cake   Sam

Sam's family sent us some photo's recently:

We adopted Sam on the 25th Nov 2006. We had a few problems when we first got him. But he is such a loving dog with so much personality, It has been worth the hard work. So thank you for our bundle of fun !!  Keep up the fantastic work you do

Willow who was a very scared little cat when she first came to us, is now settling in well with her new family.

    Willow  Willow

Willow's new owner wrote to us recently

I wanted to send you some photos of Willow to show you how well she is doing.  For the first few days she stayed in the conservatory.  Now she hardly ever goes in there!

She and Misty have a morning routine - Willow creeps up on Misty who then chases her (but never catches!)  They repeat this a few times then settle down to sleep in their own spots.

Last night was a real first - Steve and I were sat on the sofa when she came and sat between us.  After a few minutes she got up and sat on Steves knee!  She was purring and completely loving it.  She is also enjoying playing - she likes us to throw her ball up the first few stairs and she chases after it - this can go on for a very long time!  She also has (or had) 3 toy mice - 2 are now definitely dead!

She had her second injection on Tuesday - and wasn't too happy, she spit at the vet but was fine once we got her home.

She is still a little jumpy and I think that will take a lot longer for that to fade but she is certainly a different cat to the one we brought home.  We all love her to pieces.

Lennie with his little sister
Lenny

Lennie's family recently emailed the branch:

We adopted Lenny a couple of years ago and we couldn't be happier. He is so loving and obedient. We are so glad we adopted him. Here he is with his 'little sister' Keira!!!

Benson proving to be a great family member
Benson

Benson's family wrote to us in February:
Benson has now been with us for 4 weeks and is a wonderful family pet. He loves going for walks and meeting other dogs he even walks very well on his lead.  He's always eager to be brushed by the children and play with them and he never lets the baby out of his sight.  Benson runs around the house playing with his toys and he has not been destructive at all. He starts German Shepherd Training School this week to help him be more obedient outdoors.  He is a real pleasure to have around the house, may we say a big thank you to everyone that helped rehome him with us he is now a really happy dog.

News of Tess settling into her new forever home
Tess

We adopted Tess just before Christmas and I thought it would be nice to let you know how well she has settled into her new home.  She has changed from a slightly nervous and clingy staffi into a very fun loving a cheeky girl!  She loves to go to the park and meet other dogs and has become very fond of her new house mate Boomer - they love playing chase round the living room table (Tess is small enough that she can duck under it and pop out behind Boomer and surprise her) and as they are both very vocal you can't forget they are there!  She sometimes meets a young staffi pup at the park and I think this reminds her of her own pups she had to leave behind - but when we go to my pet stop we always ask how they are getting on and I think Tess would be pleased to know they both found loving homes.
Thank you for helping us meet Tess and allowing us the pleasure of having her as part of our family I just hope that all your other lovely dogs manage to find their forever homes too.

Cocoa in her new home
  cocoa  Cocoa  cocoa

I just wanted to give you a quick update on (Princess) Cocoa and let you know how well she is doing even in the short time we’ve had her. I’ve attached some pictures of her playing with her toys and exploring. She has settled in well and has fallen asleep on my lap on the sofa every evening since we got her! We took her to the vets yesterday for a kitten check and they were very pleased with her and we’ve booked her in for her next jabs. She is eating really well which we are really happy with and has got into a routine of eating her breakfast and dinner at the same time as us!  She’s so much fun and very loving we’ve already forgotten what it was like without her!
Thank you so much for your help and for letting our beautiful girl come and live with us.

Missy and Smudge (aka Flintoff) who went to their new homes a year ago.
Smudge  Missy
Missy and Smudge's owners wrote to tell us how they are getting on.

At the end of January 07 we came to see Doris after a very welcoming phone call to choose a pair of cats. We went in the pen of Ellie, Flintoff, Fletch and Dillon and Ellie wrapped herself around us meowing and being very cute, whilst Flintoff tucked into some food and ignored us, whilst Fletch and Dillon watched from their bed.  Following all our checks we left with Ellie and Flintoff, the very next day. When we arrived home we let the cats out of their travel carrier and Flintoff flew up the chimney and came back very dirty so he chose his new name of Smudge. Ellie was always a talkative thing, she moans when you are late with her tea, or it is raining, so her name of Missy is very apt.  Both the cats have settled in really well and rule the house!  Smudge catches flies and they both, unfortunately, bring us gifts of birds! We were so pleased to hear that Fletch and Dillon have also settled in and laughed at how their brother and sister also clean each other, but instead of nibbling elbows to wake us up Missy sits on my pillow.
Thank you for our lovely cats, we are always being told by neighbours how beautiful they are!

Zara who was adopted two years ago in her forever home
Zara   zara

Zara's owner recently wrote to us.

I adopted Zara 2 years ago now from the Denton branch of the RSPCA. She is a very solitary cat who spends hours alone in our garden hiding out of sight but where she can see the world go by. She definately rules the house and our dog is still unsure of the cat to this day, but they now tolerate each other.  Zara loves to play a game with me every day.  I go to collect the children from school and it is very like musical statues....I walk she follows and when I turn round she stops and sits down and looks at me in a way to say "what! I am not doing anything" .   She brings lots of joy to my life as she is MY cat and everyone can see that.  I have without a doubt got the right cat for our home....apart from in summer when she insists in catching the bats!!
Thank you for allowing me to adopt this wonderfully unique, stubborn, moody, comapanion.

Chunky and Digby enjoying their new family life
Chunky  on Sofa  Digby

Digby (dark brown) and Chunky (white) came to us nearly a year ago.  After a couple of days behind the couch they have finally settled down. Chunky is a big softie who loves to sit on your knee and nibbles her tail.  Digby is a very chatty cat who likes to talk to you especially when she comes in at 2am. Both the girls love the garden Digby sunbathes (see picture) whilst Chunk catches flies. The girls are well loved family members who we wouldn’t be without!

Gemma who was called Smartie in her new home

Gemma   Gemma

Message received from Gemma's new owners.

We adopted Gemma (originally named Smartie) at the end of June and she has settled into her new home so well - as you can see in the attached photographs.  We would especially like to thank Doris so much for all her help in the adoption process.  Gemma is such a lovely, placid and affectionate cat - we are really lucky!!

Sam (aka Ace) settling into his new home

  Sam  Sam

Just thought you might like to see how Ace (or Sam, as we have named him) is settling in.  As you can see he's made himself very much at home and is keeping us amused with his antics.  The only problem is that he can't understand why he can't go out and sits looking out of the window or by the catflap.  We have to be careful that he doesn't escape when we are going out or coming in as he stands by the door!  Other than that he is doing well and at the moment he is asleep on the chair by my side, having had a mad half hour attacking his toy mouse and scratching post.  Thanks for all your help and keep up the good work.

Smokey enjoying the water in his new home

Smokey  smokey  Smokey
Smokey's adopters recently told us how well Smokey was doing in his new home:

Though we would send you an email with some pictures of Smokey.  He is settling in very well, making himself at home.  As you thought he likes the big windows, he is very playful, and extremely inquisitive, so much so he even investigates running water, especially running taps, photos enclosed.  You can be rest assured that Smokey will be spending the rest of his days with us.
 Kind regards
 Andy & Tony

Shadow getting his feet not under, but well and truly ON the table
Shadow   Shadow     Shadow and bunny

Shadow's adopter sent these photos to show just how well he is doing in his new home.  As you can see he has really landed on his feet, and loves nothing better than lounging around with his favourite Bunny.

His proud adopter tells us that  "he is actually putting weight on now, even eats at the table :))"

Fluffy and Jemima happy in their forever home.
fluff   jemima

Fluffy and Jemima came to us in 2005, after their previous owner of 9 years could no longer look after them.  We hadn't intended to re-home two cats, let alone two persians who require constant grooming and have specific dietary needs but, it was love at first sight and we just couldn't resist their grumpy little faces!  Nearly 3 years later, Fluff and Jem are doing great, I've never known cats with such personality.  They love to play, love to be cuddled and at the grand old age of 11, love nothing more than charging round the house tormenting each other.  Our lives would be very empty without our two furry little monsters!

Ronnie (aka Frank) in his new home
Ronnie in car   Ronnie     Ronnie   Ronnie   Ronnie

Here are some pictures of Ronny (previously known as Frank) - Ronny was our Easter suprise as he came to live with us on Good Friday..!

We don't know Ronny's full background, but we do know that when he came to live with us he was just 7 months old but had already had 3 homes ... from what we know, the first two weren't very nice, but the third was an RSPCA foster home where he received lots of love and attention!

Ronny is house trained and now that he has got over his travel sickness, he enjoys trips out in the car too - he loves going for long walks, playing football and fetch, he's great with kids and other dogs and likes nothing better than grazing in the field with his horse friends!

Ronny is very happy in his new home and we are very happy with him - he is a wonderful addition to our family - he's very cheeky and full of energy - we wouldn't have him any other way...!

Thank you!
