The adoption process

Choosing a dog? - important questions for a successful adoption

Please note - Most of our dogs and all puppies under 6 months old will only be rehomed to families
where they will not be left at home for long hours during the day whilst the family is out at work and school,
and who have no young children under 5 years of age.

We do our best to match adopters' lifestyles with our dogs' needs.
For example: a young dog may be very lively and strong and could outlive an older person
but we sometimes have dogs who have seen a bit more of life and have come into our care through no fault of their own.
They are often very sensible, many have been well trained by their previous owners and now they have reached middle age would benefit greatly
from the love, attention and extra time spent on them which can be found in the home of a retired person.
Please contact us if you are looking for such a dog.

Molly

Molly is only 16 months old and is looking for a third family to call her own.  After being rescued by a neighbour from a life of almost total lack of human or animal company, where she was kept in a cage for the many hours her owner was out at work, Molly found it difficult to come to terms with the sudden freedom she was given in her new home.  As a result, although her new owner really cared for her she felt that Molly needed an experienced boxer home where she will not be left alone and will be taught the boundaries and given the training she desperately needs.

Molly is a friendly girl, she loves people, children and other dogs but is looking for a new family where at least one member will be at home with her most days and she won't be left alone on a regular basis.  Additionally, she will only be rehomed with children over 8 years age as she is a very bouncy dog who could easily knock a younger child over.

The following is a quote from from http://www.dogsey.com/dog-articles.php?t=7953

"Your Boxer will be exactly what you make her. You are the brightest star in her sky and you hold her heart and her behaviour in your hand. She will always try to please and to live up to your expectations. If you expect her to be a fool then she will oblige you. If you expect her to be a well-mannered ambassador for her breed, then that is what she will be. It is entirely up to you. If you recognize her intelligence, her humour, spirit, energy, loyalty, and her need for the love and respect of her family, then you will be repaid a hundredfold with unstinting and unconditional lifelong devotion."

If you think that you could offer Molly a caring new home and would like to visit her please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email not forgetting to include a contact telephone number to office@rspca-tameside-glossop.org.uk

Ally

Ally

Ally an 8 or 9 year old Jack Russell type Terrier who is a real softy, fine with other dogs, adults and children.  In fact she loves everyone and likes nothing better than curling up on your lap.

If you would like to find out more about her with a view to adoption or if you could offer a long term foster placement, please leave a message for Gail on our answerphone 07050 264 531 with a contact phone number or send her an email not forgetting to include a contact phone number

Amy
Amy is approximately 2 years old, and her trainer wanted to get rid of her as she didn't come up to scratch.  Luckily for Amy he did contact a greyhound rescue before having her put to sleep (the usual outcome for many greyhounds who don't make the grade).  Because the greyhound rescue is struggling to find enough space for all the greys surplus to the requirements of the racing industry Amy has come into branch care until she finds a loving new home.

She is a very gentle, small greyhound with a lovely black and white coat.  She walks well on the leadand  is fine with all other dogs she meets.

Her adopters will need to be aware that because she has been in racing kennels all of her short life she has never experienced living a normal family life in the warmth and comfort of a loving home.  She will need to become used to being left for shopping trips etc, plus the usual household noises and machines, such as vacuum cleaners, washing machines, driers and TVs.  She may even need help to walk up and down stairs.

If you think that you could offer Amy a caring new home and would like to visit her please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email not forgetting to include a contact telephone number to office@rspca-tameside-glossop.org.uk

Fynn
Fynn is a 1 year old lurcher (greyhound x saluki x collie x ??????) who has come to us from a Lurcher rescue where he had been thrown over their garden wall.  Poor Fynn was suffering terribly from a severe flea allergy which has now been treated but his coat will take time to grow back into its full glory.

Fynn is looking for that special person or family to call his own where he will be loved and cared for.

Fynn's adopters do need to be aware that because we do not know what his previous background has been he has probably never experienced living a normal family life in the warmth and comfort of a loving home.  He will need to become used to being left for shopping trips etc, plus the usual household noises and machines, such as vacuum cleaners, washing machines, driers and TVs.  He may even need help to walk up and down stairs.

If you think that you could offer Fynn a caring new home and would like to visit him please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email not forgetting to include a contact telephone number to office@rspca-tameside-glossop.org.uk

Mitch

Mitch is a very friendly, 3 year old, neutered male cross breed.  He came to us to find a new home from RSPCA Bury and Oldham branch where he was surrendered by his previous ouwers due to a change in their circumstances.  Mitch has lived with children of all ages but because he is quite strong on the lead he is looking for a family with older children.

If you think that you could offer Mitch a caring new home and would like to visit him please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email not forgetting to include a contact telephone number to office@rspca-tameside-glossop.org.uk

Panchos

Panchos is a 9 month old Staffy, He needs an active family home as he loves being out on walks and playing games. He is good with people and other dogs and cats. He has lived with children, and really enjoys being part of the family. He is a little excited when he first meets people but very quickly calms down. Panchos is a good lad who just needs these skills fine tuning.

Panchos will not be rehomed to families with children under 8 years of age as he is a very boisterous young man who may knock younger ones over.

If you think that you could offer Panchos a caring new home and would like to visit him please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Gail or send her an email not forgetting to include a contact telephone number to office@rspca-tameside-glossop.org.uk

Ricky

Ricky is a cross breed dog, who is estimated to be about 9 months old.  He needs an active family home as he loves being out on walks and playing games.  He is good with people and other dogs but because of his very boisterous nature he will only be rehomed to families with children over 8 years of age, as he may knock younger ones over.

If you think that you could offer Ricky a caring new home and would like to visit him please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email

Lucky

Lucky
is an older staffy looking for a new home due to his owner passing away whilst he was being boarded at Newgate kennels in Wilmslow.

For further details please contact them on 01625 525409

Jimmy
Jimmy is an 18 month old lurcher, (Greyhound x ????), whose photos just don't do him justice.  He is extremely handsome, everyone who meets him admires his light brindle coat and confident, friendly greeting.

He was initially rescued by a lady who took him in as his previous owners were emigrating.  However, her own dog just wouldn't get on with poor Jimmy who is a very gentle laid back dog although he can be quite bouncy.  He had been kept in an outdoor kennel for most of his short life so will need to learn to live in a house.

Although Jimmy walks well on the lead and will sit for a treat, he can be a bit boisterous
so will not be rehomed where there are very small children simply due to his size.  However, though he's a typically tall lurcher they often have an amazing ability to curl up into very small spaces though they are just as likely to lie on their backs, fully stretched out on a comfy sofa.
