The adoption process

Choosing a dog? - important questions for a successful adoption

Please note - The majority of our dogs and all puppies under 6 months old will only be rehomed to families
where they will not be left at home for long hours during the day whilst the family is out at work and school,
and who have no young children under 5 years of age.

We do our best to match adopters' lifestyles with our dogs' needs.
For example: a young dog may be very lively and strong and could outlive an older person
but we sometimes have dogs who have seen a bit more of life and have come into our care through no fault of their own.
They are often very sensible, many have been well trained by their previous owners and now they have reached middle age would benefit greatly
from the love, attention and extra time spent on them which can be found in the home of a retired person.
Please contact us if you are looking for such a dog.

Gordon

Gordon is a 6 year old German Shepherd Dog who has been returned to the branch due to his over protective instinct with his new family.  He now desperately needs a GSD experienced home where he will not be allowed to feel he is in charge of the family and has to protect them.

Gordon could become a wonderful companion with an experienced GSD owner who will be firm but kind.

If you have the experience he needs and would like to visit Gordon please
telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email

Nancy

Nancy is a 16mth old stafffy cross who has come in via an inspector, she had a broken leg due to neglect which had to be rebuilt.

Nancy is a calm dog who just wants to be tickled and played with.  She still limps a bit on her injuried leg but with a little more use this should go.  Her ideal family would be able to spend lots of time with her as we think she would get stressed if left for too long a period.

If you would like to visit Nancy please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Gail or send her an email

Yogi

Yogi is a small cross breed who came into branch care via one of our Inspectors.  She is about 12 months old and full of fun and energy.  She would love an active home with lots of long walks in the park.  She gets on well with other dogs and loves people.

If you would like to visit Yogi please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email

Babe

Babe is a cross breed dog who came into branch care via one of our Inspectors and is estimated to be about 8 years of age.  She has a very good temperament despite all she has been through and would make a wonderful companion.  She is looking for a new family who will take her to lots of new and exciting places as she has been confined for over 6 years.

If you would like to visit Babe please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email

Tyler

Tyler is a medium sized cross breed who came into branch care via one of our Inspectors. Tyler is full of energy but due to not being walked or socialised he has no manners and jumps around like a kangaroo, he is not very good with other dogs but this may be due to him jumping on everthing wanting to play. Tyler does pull on the lead but this is due to him not being walked, Tyler is a good boy who just needs an active family who have the time to use up his energy and teach him some basic manners.

If you would like to visit Tyler please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email

Kara

Kara is a fairly large Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is brindle & white. She is 3 years old and is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.  She is a lovely natured dog who is good with people and in the home. Due to her larger size and typical staffy boisterous nature she would be best in a home where are no small children and where she would be the only dog.

If you think that you could offer Kara a caring home and would like to visit her telephone

07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email

Bruno

Bruno is a cross breed who is estimated to be between 3 and 4 years old and came from another branch of the RSPCA where he has been overlooked time and time again.  Bruno now knows how to say hello nicely to visitors as he has become a bit of a gentleman whilst staying with us and will sit and shake paws on command.

He is good with other dogs as long as he's introduced to them properly but he isn't keen on
cats.  Bruno will be best with older children as he is a bit too bouncy for toddlers.

If you would like to visit Bruno please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email

Dot

Dot
is a German Shepherd cross breed who came into branch care via one of our Inspectors as her previous owner couldn't care for her properly.  She walks well on the lead and is a very gentle dog who loves people and gets on well with other dogs.  Dot is estimated to be about 5 or 6 years of age.  She is looking for a quiet home where she will be loved.

REHOMED

Lassie

Lassie is a 4 year old Rough Collie who is looking for a new home.  She is a little timid with new people but does like to play with her ball.

Lassie is not used to walking and it may take some time to get her used to going out and about.   Lassie has lived with other dogs and got on well with them.

REHOMED

Gregory

Gregory
is a 4 month old Labrador cross poodle, who is bundle of fun acording to his fosterers.  He is very good with cats and other dogs.  Gregory has only one fault and that is he will steal anything that's not nailed down but will bring it back if he is caught.  He is a clean dog around the house and despite a rocky start to life is a lovely dog who will make a family a fun friend for life.

REHOMED

Canny Collar - kind and gentle way to stop pulling on the lead
