The true initial costs of a free to good home kitten when compared to one adopted from the RSPCA.
   A free kitten from an neighbour or newspaper advert:
    *  £15...Initial flea and Worm course
    * £20...Average cost of Microchipping
    * £50...Average cost of Neutering
    * £40...Average cost of Inoculations
    * £25...Average cost of Vet Check
    * Total cost: £150 (approx)

The above procedures are the very BASIC things a kitten/cat needs to keep them healthy and safe. It's not enough to love and feed them.  Animals need your time and money too. Animals are a luxury and to care for one properly you need to consider all their needs for life.

A kitten from the RSPCA Tameside and Glossop branch:
*  Flea and worm treatment,
*  Basic health check by a veterinary surgeon
*  Vaccinations against Flu and Enteritis.
*  Neutering and Microchipping.
*  Dietary advice, help and back up.
*  Total adoption fee = £45

We talk to EVERYONE who is taking on an animal about the whole spectrum of the care, commitment, housing and costs involved. This is to help people make an educated choice and safeguards the animal involved, our primary concern.

The majority of the cats and kittens on this page were brought into branch care by RSPCA Inspectors.

Many have been ill-treated or severely neglected by their previous owners.
If you could offer a cat or kitten a caring new home to call their own please don't hesitate to ring for an appointment to visit the cattery.
Please note - kittens will only be rehomed to families where there is someone at home during the day
and where there are no young children under 5 years of age.

Kitt

Kitt is a black and brown male of around 3 years old. Kitt has suffered terrible neglect and as a result has some fur loss and bald patches. With time these should grow over and he will once again have a full coverage of fur. He can be a little shy at first but there is a cheeky glint in his eyes and we are sure that once he is loved and settled he will blossom.

If you would like to arrange to visit Kitt with a view to offering a caring new home please phone 0797 775 7273

Chase
Chase is an adult ginger male of around 6-7 years. He came in to the care of the branch following a road traffic accident which left him with a number of injuries including an ulcerated eye. The recovery and recuperation process has been slow, which means we have got to know Chase very well.  Chase is still on a course of eye drops to lubricate his eye and this would need to be continued by his adopter and the dose and frequency gradually reduced.

He is a very gentle and loving cat who adores people and will make someone a very loyal companion. Chase has been in foster in a multi-cat household and has shown he can be assertive and bossy so care would have to be taken if he is to be rehomed with exisiting family cats.

If you would like to arrange to visit Chase with a view to offering a caring new home please phone 0797 775 7273

Sylvester

Sylvester is a beautiful ginger and white male of around 18 months old. He has been through a real trauma recently having got his leg caught through an ill-fitting collar. The collar then cut through his neck and underarm and this went untreated for some time. He is now well on the road to recovery although some scarring may remain.

Sylvester's fosterer says 'He is the most loving cat I have ever fostered, he loves to lie on your chest and snuggles his head under you chin and can purr for England.'

If you would like to arrange to visit Sylvester with a view to offering a caring new home please phone 0797 775 7273
