ANIMAL WELFARE—VOLUNTEERS

VETERINARY LIAISON - This position involves: liaising with local veterinary surgeons; issuing vouchers, discussing problems which may “crop up” from time to time; ensuring that the branch continues its good relationship with the veterinary surgeons in the area which has been built up over many years.  Post currently held by Irene Platt.

HOME CHECK CO-ORDINATOR – Works closely with his/her team of home visitors to ensure the RSPCA rehoming policy carried out.  Post holders Joyce Armfield and Doris Mawhinney

Prior to any animal leaving the boarding establishment the prospective adopters are visited in their own homes to ensure their suitability for the type of animal concerned.   Any concerns that the adopters may have are also fully discussed.

KENNEL LIAISON - works closely with Inspectors, Animal Collection Officers and the private boarding kennels caring for branch dogs prior to adoption.  Post holder - Joyce Armfield

CATTERY LIAISON - works closely with Inspectors, Animal Collection Officers and the private cattery caring for branch cats prior to adoption.  Post holder - Doris Mawhinney

HOME VISITORS - Home Visiting Volunteers are responsible to the Home Check Co-ordinators.  They visit the prospective animal adopters in their own homes to ensure suitability.

Qualities needed are a calm confident manner, to be able to get along with people and to have some knowledge of caring for animals.  We are always looking for volunteers to join our team.  Travel and telephone expenses will be reimbursed

FOSTERERS
(usually puppies and/or kittens)

The branch urgently needs dedicated animal carers who would be prepared to foster sick, injured or very young animals prior to adoption.
This will not involve any personal expense but could involve some sleepless nights.  All out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed, all bedding, food, medication and associated veterinary expenses will be met by the branch.

DRIVERS - No vacancies at the moment

(with own vehicle)

Could you spare an occasional hour to transport sick animals to a veterinary surgeon from the boarding kennels we use?   Ideally, someone who is available during the day is needed.  All mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
